This collection contains paintings created by Herold Alvares.
Herold Alvares (b. circa 1976) was born in Limbe, Haiti. He was born limbless, due to a congenital birth defect. His parents sent him to St. Vincent’s Center for Handicapped Children in Port-au-Prince, where he was educated and essentially raised. He learned to paint with his feet and mouth. He sold his first painting by age twelve. His acrylic painting contains contemporary and traditional themes to depict his dreams. He currently lives in Port-au-Prince and teaches at St. Vincent’s School. He has painted over 2,000 pieces. His work has appeared in the National Palace in Port-au-Prince. It has also been included in museum collections in Haiti and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and in art shows throughout the United States.
