Haitian Coffee with Sugar

Dublin Core

Title

Haitian Coffee with Sugar

Description

This painting alludes to the history of Haiti and the country’s relationship to coffee and sugar. Two of Haiti’s biggest exports are coffee and sugar, as the mountainous geography of Haiti makes it difficult for other crops to grow well. It was introduced to the region in 1720, and afterward they became one of biggest exports, at one point making Haiti the third largest coffee and sugar
exporting country in the world.
