Document signed by the commander of the arrondissement of Jeremie, in French, 1 page folio, Jeremie, 11 Prairial, year 8 [May 31, 1800], ordering Captain Couba to take his company to La Petite Riviere, guard the shore there, maintain order, and “preach love of work and of liberty.” An interesting document from the period in the struggle for independence when the legendary Toussaint L’Ouverture was consolidating his power. Fine.
