On October 3, 2020, the Haitian American Museum of Chicago (HAMOC) displayed its one-day, outdoor, community exhibition We Walk: A Celebration of Black Community. This exhibition was in direct response to the Black Lives Matter movement and the disproportionate effect COVID-19 was having on Black communities. As a part of Uptown Works, a community collaboration between HAMOC and local Uptown cafe Emerald City Coffee, this event highlighted postitive accomplishments and contributions of the Black community to Chicago and beyond. The exhibition was made up of 19 smaller exhibits created by various community organizations and individuals. The event saw over 250 guests during its 5 hours display on Racine Avenue between Broadway and Wilson.
