Title

Granbwa Lanmou

Description

Granbwa Lanmou (The Big Tree of Love in Haitian Creole) is a durational performance piece where the artist invites the audience to adorn the artist's body with different colorful satin or silk fabrics, repersenting different spirits or Lwa in Haitian Vodou. The final piece is an abstract decorated Mapou tree worn by the artist, which represents the Haitian community and our collective Lakou as Haitian people all over the world. The adornment is the result of the audience's participation in embellishing the Mapou tree with colorful fabrics, symbolizing the union of the Lwa's or spirits that continue to guide Haiti and its people.
