Le Petite Brodeuse (The Little Embroiderer) by Soliman Delva
Oil on canvas
A young girl kneels, head bent so deep over the embroidery on her lap that you can only see her forehead. She is mid-stitch, pulling the thread through the fabric. She is wearing a red shirt and a blue skirt. In front of her is an open sack of folded embroidery in the same pattern. She so intently embroiders, that she is seemingly oblivious to the animals, chicken and cats, circling around her and her work. Is this moment of complete focus something you recognize? This realistic looking painting is characterized by fine details and rich colors.
