About the Exhibition
Kijan Fiti Mwen Ye (How is My Future?)
Art has long been a force of resilience, a way to preserve history, and a means to envision the future. This exhibition highlights the work of Charles Art Jerry, an artist whose paintings are deeply rooted in Haiti's Vodou traditions. His art is a vivid exploration of spirituality, mythology, and the everyday realities of life in Haiti, rendered in bold colors and striking compositions. With each brushstroke, he channels the rhythms of ancestral knowledge, the echoes of Haiti's complex history, and the pulse of a people who persist against immense challenges.
Beyond his own artistic practice, Charles is a dedicated mentor, fostering a new generation of artists in Port-au-Prince. The works of his students, featured in this exhibition, are deeply rooted in Vodou traditions, reflecting their lived experiences and spiritual heritage. Through bold imagery and symbolic storytelling, their art offers a glimpse into the enduring strength and mystical essence of their community.
